Luka Doncic Leads Lakers to Win Over Nets
Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers came away with a 116-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.
It was the Lakers’ second straight victory, and they have now won 14 of their last 16 games. They remain the three seed in the Western Conference with a record of 48-26.
Let’s break down how they picked up the win over the Nets.
Luka Doncic Continues MVP Case
Doncic had another elite performance, finishing with 41 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block. He shot 15-25 from the field and 5-10 from behind the arc.
Doncic has been on a tear of late and has led the Lakers on this great stretch since the All-Star Break. Despite this, Doncic dropped on the MVP ladder from second to fourth.
He is continuing to play at a high level, as one of the best offensive engines in the league, while playing solid defense in the second half of the season. He has put much more effort into the defensive end of late, taking charges, getting in the passing lanes, and playing better in isolation defense.
If he continues to play at this level, Doncic should have a chance at taking home the MVP award.
Austin Reaves Back In Rhythm
Austin Reaves has played well over the last four games after having a three-game stretch in mid-March where he struggled.
Against the Nets, Reaves finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal while shooting 7-13 from the floor and 4-7 from downtown.
With Reaves back on a roll, it will help the Lakers as they head into the postseason.
The Lakers picked up another win and will look to build on this great stretch as they take on the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
