Gabe Vincent is nearing a return; intends to play again this season

According to Marc Stein, Lakers backup point guard Gabe Vincent is nearing a return and intends to play again this season, barring any setbacks.

Vincent has only appeared in five games due to a knee injury. The 27-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery in his left knee in late December.

LA signed Vincent to a three-year $33 million deal in the offseason. He was signed to be a point-of-attack defender and shooter off the bench for the LakeShow. However, injuries have kept him off the court.

In the five games he’s played, Vincent has struggled. He is averaging 5/1/3 on 38/12/50 shooting splits.

Although his shooting splits are exceptionally low, he proved last season that he can be impactful on offense when it matters most. Vincent was pivotal in the Miami Heat’s run to the NBA Finals.

This is positive news for the Purple and Gold who have faced many injury woes.

It will be interesting to see how Darvin Ham implements Vincent, especially with the midseason pickup of Spencer Dinwiddie, who has taken on the backup point guard role.
