Christian Wood to be re-evaluated in eight weeks after knee surgery

According to Shams Charania, Lakers big man Christian Wood underwent surgery on his left knee and will be re-evaluated in eight weeks.

The 28-year-old will now miss training camp, the preseason, and the start of the regular season. Wood only appeared in 50 games for the Lakers in the 2023-24 season as he battled injuries.

In those games, Wood averaged 7/5/1 on 47/31/70 shooting splits. With Wood missing the start of the season, the Lakers will rely on Jaxson Hayes as the primary backup big.

This is more disappointing injury news for the Purple and Gold, as Jarred Vanderbilt may not be available for training camp. Vanderbilt is still recovering from his foot injury from the 2023-24 season.

The Lakers will hope for a speedy recovery for their two role players so that they can start the season as healthy as possible.
