Lakers Drop Game 4 to Rockets 115-96

Rockets Bring the Energy, Lakers Don’t Match

The Los Angeles Lakers dropped Game 4 in a rough 115-96 loss to the Houston Rockets, and while the series still sits at 3-1 in favor of LA, this one felt like a reset.

Nothing about this game was complicated. Houston came out with more energy, more urgency, and honestly just better vibes from the jump. LA never found a rhythm, and once the deficit started building, it stayed that way the rest of the night.

LeBron James continues to be the engine of everything for this team. Even when things are not clicking, his presence still drives the Lakers. This series has shown that as long as he is on the floor, the ceiling is there. But Game 4 made it clear that one player cannot carry everything alone.

Execution and Effort Decide It

Houston simply executed better. They outshot the Lakers from the field and reached the free-throw line more often, which usually comes down to effort and discipline. That is where the gap showed.

When one team is already playing with confidence, extra chances just make things worse. The Lakers gave those away, and it snowballed quickly.

The biggest difference, though, was the absence of production from the role players. That group has been the core of LA’s success this series. Game 1 saw Luke Kennard step up. Game 2 belonged to Marcus Smart. Game 3 was Rui Hachimura making a real impact. This time, there was nothing to shift momentum.

Rockets Get Contributions, Lakers Reset

On the other side, Tari Eason finally showed up and made his presence felt. Reed Sheppard added to that, giving Houston the kind of secondary production the Lakers were missing.

It also stands out that this came without Kevin Durant, making the Rockets’ performance even more interesting.

There is no real panic here. The Lakers still control the series and still dictate how these games go when they are locked in. This loss was not about matchups or schemes; it came down to effort and execution.

A bounce back feels likely. If the role players return to form and LeBron keeps setting the tone, LA is still in the driver’s seat heading into Game 5.
