Lakers Extend Streak with Gritty Win Over Timberwolves

Timberwolves Enter Hot; Lakers Look to Keep Rolling

The Los Angeles Lakers secured a hard-fought 111-102 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota came in fresh off a 25-point, come-from-behind overtime win against the West’s top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.

Los Angeles entered on a three-game winning streak. They had already claimed statement wins over the red-hot Denver Nuggets and Luka Dončić’s former team, the Dallas Mavericks. With momentum on their side, the Lakers looked to keep rolling.

LeBron and Dončić Set the Tone Early

The Lakers started fast. LeBron James and Dončić combined for 21 of the team’s 33 first-quarter points, looking unstoppable on offense.

Lakers’ Defense Stifles Edwards

JJ Redick’s defensive schemes have been a key factor in the Lakers’ recent success. Tonight was no different. Anthony Edwards struggled early, scoring just four points in the first quarter and posting a -16 plus-minus.

However, he found his rhythm late in the second quarter. His surge helped Minnesota cut the deficit to 11 by halftime.

Third Quarter Chaos

The third quarter was a rollercoaster. Rui Hachimura suffered a knee strain after landing awkwardly on a layup and exited early.

Minutes later, Anthony Edwards was ejected after picking up his second technical foul. Even without their star, the Timberwolves stayed in the fight. They trailed by 11 heading into the fourth.

Minnesota Claws Back, Lakers Hold On

Without Edwards, the Timberwolves refused to fold. They cut the Lakers’ lead to just three late in the fourth.

Los Angeles hit a cold spell, shooting 5-of-20 from the field and 1-of-8 from deep. The door was open for Minnesota.

Free Throws Seal the Win

LA found a lifeline at the free-throw line. They attempted 23 foul shots in the fourth quarter alone, slowing the game down and regaining control.

That was enough to secure a 111-102 win.

Lakers Stay Hot

With this victory, the Lakers extend their winning streak to four. They continue to build chemistry and consistency with the newly acquired star.
