Lakers fall to Spurs in first game back
The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the San Antonio Spurs 126-102 at home. This was the Lakers’ first game after the wildfires ravaged Los Angeles.
The Lakers dedicated the game to first responders, who continue to fight the ongoing fires in the LA area. While more important things are happening in LA, let’s break down why the Lakers lost this game.
Spurs all-around attack
The Spurs had a balanced offensive attack, as six of their players finished in double figures. Victor Wembanyama, Devin Vassell, and Stephon Castle all had 23 points.
Veteran point guard Chris Paul orchestrated the offense with 13 points and 10 assists. The Spurs’ ability to share the basketball exposed LA’s defense all night long.

Lakers offense falls flat in 4th quarter
The Lakers offense fell flat in the fourth quarter as they were outscored 37-13. The Purple and Gold couldn’t get anything going as they struggled with turnovers and missing shots.
It was an all-around disappointing quarter, which led to their loss. It was an emotional game for the LakeShow as fires continue to impact the LA area.
Head coach JJ Redick is one of the many LA citizens to lose their homes. Hopefully, the team can rally together and bounce back on the court against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.
