Lakers Look to Even Series After Game 1 Blowout
Game 2 Pressure Mounts
The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the NBA first-round playoffs. The Lakers are under a lot of pressure this time around. After losing by a substantial margin in Game 1, they look to turn the page and tie the series before heading to Minnesota for Game 3.

Slow Start from Stars
While Luka Doncic started strong with his 16-point first quarter, the others were nowhere to be found. LeBron James was very passive early, shooting 0–2 in the first. Even though he ramped up his aggressiveness in the second quarter, his effect on the game seemed minimal.
Lakers Bench Goes Missing
The lack of offensive efficiency didn’t stop there. Los Angeles’s bench scored 0 points in the second and third quarters. They finished with just 13 total points. Five of those came from Dalton Knecht in garbage time.
Lakers Defensive Collapse
It wasn’t just a poor offensive game outside of Luka’s 37 points—the defense was also atrocious. The Timberwolves shot 50 percent (21–42) from three. L.A. gave them wide open look after wide open look. There were no closeouts or rotations to stop the bleeding.
Fast Break Disparity
Another big issue the Lakers must fix is fast break points. The Timberwolves had 25 fast break points compared to the Lakers’ 6. Eighteen of those came off turnovers. L.A. must prioritize protecting the ball tonight. They also need to get back on defense and run the Timberwolves off the three-point line.
Urgency Required
The pressure is on for the Lakers to make the right adjustments. Losing tonight would be a bad look for a team with such high expectations. Game 1 was rough, but there’s hope it lit a fire under the Lakers. They need to get the job done.
