Lakers re-sign Max Christie on four-year $32 million deal

After recently hiring JJ Redick as their next head coach, the Los Angeles Lakers made another calculated move in favor of their future today. The team announced they’ve re-signed Max Christie to a four-year, $32 million extension that includes a player option.

Max Christie, a young wing, has quickly proven his worth in the Lakers’ organization. His versatility is a key asset, as he has demonstrated the ability to make significant contributions on both offense and defense. In the modern NBA, three-and-D players like Christie, who can excel in both areas, are highly sought after, and the Lakers have managed to secure his services at a favorable price.

While Max Christie’s current statistics may not be headline-grabbing, the anticipation for his future impact is palpable. It’s only a matter of time before his presence on the court becomes more significant. The young wing from Minnesota has already showcased his defensive prowess and a diverse offensive skill set. Whether it’s a drive to the lane, a midrange shot, or a corner three, his efficiency is easy on the eyes.

Christie’s Future

Christie’s minutes have been shockingly low under ex-head coach Darvin Ham for the past two seasons. The fans certainly noticed, as many throughout Lakers Nation called for more Christie. Thankfully, that will not be the case for much longer. In an article by Shams Charania, he reported even more good news about their future.

Shams reported that the team, along with Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, is showing great interest in Christie’s development. This young core’s development is vital to the team’s success not only this year but also post-LeBron. JJ Redick’s knowledge of the Xs and Os should seemingly help ramp up their development and secure reliable role players for the Purple and Gold.

Christie’s ability to hit corner threes and help subdue opposing teams’ best players next season should be on full display under JJ Redick as he hopefully takes substantial steps toward his full potential.
