Lakers Ride Dončić Triple-Double to 130–120 Win Over Heat

The stars showed up in Los Angeles tonight as the Lakers faced the Miami Heat. One day after the Dodgers captured the World Series, the Lakers looked to keep the city’s momentum alive — and they did just that with a hard-fought win at Crypto.com Arena.

FIRST QUARTER

The Lakers started hot behind Jaxson Hayes, who provided an early spark. Hayes scored 11 points in the first quarter, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and hitting a three-pointer to show his range. Rui Hachimura joined in, knocking down two threes and finishing in transition off Miami turnovers.

Despite the strong start, the Lakers struggled to contain Miami’s fast-paced offense. Every Lakers basket was quickly answered by the Heat, who pushed the tempo relentlessly. Los Angeles still ended the quarter in front, leading 43–36 after a strong offensive showing.

SECOND QUARTER

The Lakers tightened up defensively in the second. Mixing in zone coverage slowed the Heat’s rhythm and forced turnovers that turned into easy points.

Luka Dončić came alive this quarter, scoring nine quick points and adding a steal that led to a fast-break finish. The Lakers extended their lead to 14 by halftime, going into the break up 77–63 thanks to better defense and balanced scoring.

THIRD QUARTER

Miami came out of halftime with energy and focus. Coach Erik Spoelstra’s adjustments helped spark a comeback. Jaime Jaquez Jr. led the charge with 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting through three quarters.

Turnovers hurt the Lakers, who gave the ball away five times in the period. The mistakes stalled their offense and allowed Miami to close the gap. What was once a 14-point lead was down to just four, with the Lakers clinging to a 102–98 advantage entering the final quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

The Heat kept coming, cutting the deficit to three early in the fourth. Coach JJ Redick called a quick timeout to regroup, and the Lakers responded immediately. They locked in on both ends and closed the game strong.

Austin Reaves delivered in the clutch, finishing with a 26-point double-double. Dončić recorded his first triple-double of the season with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Off the bench, Jake LaRavia was huge, adding 25 points and providing steady scoring down the stretch.

The Lakers sealed the 130–120 win, showing poise and balance late to secure another statement victory at home.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Lakers won’t have much time to rest. They travel to Portland next for the second night of a back-to-back. After losing to the Trail Blazers last week, Los Angeles will look for revenge and a chance to keep their momentum rolling.
