Lakers survive Raptors comeback; improve to 4-2
The Los Angeles Lakers blew an early lead but survived the Toronto Raptors comeback to get a 131-125 win.
While it wasn’t as easy of a win as the Lakers hoped, it all counts the same in the standings. With that in mind, let’s look at our takeaways from LA’s win in Toronto.

Lakers struggle to hold lead
The Lakers dominated early, leading 43-19 at the end of the first quarter. They remained in front big at halftime, but everything changed in the third quarter.
The Raptors outscored the Lakers 37-23 in the quarter. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle, but the Purple and Gold closed the game out in the final minute.
After the game, Anthony Davis said, “Unacceptable. Yeah we won, and we’ll take the win for sure […] but we’re a long ways to where we want to be.”
Anthony Davis dominace
While LA would have preferred to close the game out early, it was a dominant effort from Davis. The 31-year-old big man finished with 38 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
Davis has been on a mission this season as the hub in JJ Redick’s system. If he continues to be dominant on offense in addition to his elite defense, he could take home the MVP award.
LeBron James isn’t slowing down
The 39-year-old LeBron James continues to defy Father Time as he remains one of the best players in the world.
James finished with 27 points, six rebounds, and ten assists while going 5-8 from three. James’ shooting was key in the victory as he’s off to a hot start from distance, shooting 44.1 percent from deep through six games.
The King isn’t slowing down, and LA will now have two days off before a matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Monday.
