Lakers Win Second Straight Game vs Rockets

Tonight, your Los Angeles Lakers (44-25) took on the Houston Rockets (41-27) for the second time in three nights. After winning the first game, they continued their stretch of games looking like one of the elite teams in the West.

Los Angeles, went into the game with a chance not just to extend their lead in the 3rd seed, but to secure the tiebreaker against Houston. Thankfully for Purple and Gold faithful, that’s exactly what they did. Let’s take a look at what got them there.

The Lakers looked great again defensively and held Kevin Durant in check yet again holding him to 2 points in the first half and 18 points overall. While the defense was great, it was the Lakers stars that pulled through to win this close game 124-116.

What a Night From LeBron James

LeBron James these past few weeks has found his groove on this team. Wild to say that LeBron James needs to find his groove, vs the vibe being based around him, but at 41 it makes sense. Tonight, he picked up the slack where it was needed.

With Austin Reaves having a tough night tonight, LeBron took control from the jump. He started the game 2/2 from three in the first quarter. The bounce in his step seemed to come from a few years ago as he relentlessly punished the rim with multiple first half jams.

Overall, LeBron finished with 30 points on an astounding 13/14 from the field. Not only was this the third game of him and Luka Dončić both scoring 30+, but it was LeBron’s 8th straight game with 15 or less FGA. The groove he’s found as a third option is truly terrifying.

Luka is on Another Planet Lately

Luka, Luka, Luka…what can we even say anymore. For a player who averages nearly, 33 PPG, you think we’d be used to it by now. You also think that players and fans would have learned by now to not egg him on verbally. A fan in the Houston crowd tonight learned their lesson.

Early on it was clear that that Luka was having a back and forth with a fan in the first few rows and it fueled him all game long. It fueled him all the way to an incredible 40 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. He was sure that fan heard about it too, all the way until his final dagger three

This was Luka’s 7th straight game with 30+ points and he seems to be getting red hot at just the right time.

Lakers Establish Tiebreaker Over Rockets

With their win tonight, LA set themselves up even further for what they’re hoping will be a deep playoff run. By closing out a tight game tonight, they established another tiebreaker. They already had the tiebreaker over Minnesota and Denver, and they added Houston to the list tonight.

The Lakers will head to Miami tonight to play the Heat tomorrow at 5:00 PM PST. They could drop that one on the second night of a back-to-back, but with the way they’ve been playing who knows?
