Luka Reveals His Legacy Plans With Lakers
Luka Doncic is a top-five player in the NBA today and a magician on the offensive end of the floor. He led the Lakers to the three seed in the playoffs despite all of the drama surrounding his midseason trade, and led the Mavericks to the Finals just two seasons ago.
The future is clearly bright in LA. Luka’s recent comment suggests that he understands the Lakers only compete for championships, and anything less is considered a failure. He doesn’t want just one championship; he wants to build another Lakers dynasty on his back.

This is an encouraging sign for Lakers fans, as it indicates that Luka may be planning to sign an extension with the team soon. Doncic is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers starting August 2. The extension could be up to a four-year, $223 million deal. Doncic could also potentially wait and sign a five-year deal worth up to $287.9 million as a free agent in 2026.
The team would love to lock up their face of the franchise for the future as soon as possible. This recent comment from Luka indicates that an extension may be possible in August.
