Injury Report: Timberwolves at Lakers

The Lakers matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves for the opening night of the NBA. The Lakers’ injury woes continue as three players remain sidelined with lingering issues from the 2023-2024 season.

LAKERS INJURIES

Christian Wood

Christian Wood underwent surgery on his right knee at the end of the off-season, disappointing Lakers fans who were eager to see his potential development this season.

While initial estimates suggested an eight-week recovery period, Wood indicated at media day that his return could come as soon as four weeks.

Jarred Vanderbilt

Jarred Vanderbilt is also on the inactive list, recovering from a mid-foot sprain. Though Vanderbilt missed training camp, Coach Redick recently provided an optimistic update, stating that the recovery is progressing as planned and promising another status update in two weeks.

Christian Koloko

The team’s newest addition, Christian Koloko, rounds out the injury report. While not technically injured, Koloko is undergoing reconditioning to reach game shape. He is currently listed as day-to-day and is expected to join the active roster soon.

Hachimura/Reaves

On a positive note, both Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves have overcome minor injuries that kept them out of recent preseason action.

Hachimura, who experienced calf tightness, has been cleared to play. Reaves, who suffered a minor ankle injury last week, has practiced fully and confirmed his readiness, stating simply, “Great. I feel good.”

Timberwolves Injuries

The Timberwolves enter tonight’s game with a clean injury report. The team recently completed a significant trade, sending Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks in exchange for former Laker Julius Randle and sharpshooter Donte DiVincenzo.

Both players are set to make their Timberwolves debut tonight, with Randle returning to NBA action for the first time since sustaining a shoulder injury last January.
