Jaxson Hayes opts into his $2.4 million player option

Jaxson Hayes has opted into his $2.4 million player option.

The 24-year-old center appeared in 70 games for the Lakers last season, averaging 4/3/1 while shooting 72 percent (a career-high) from the field.

Hayes showed some flashes of being a solid role player but hasn’t carved out a consistent role.

Hayes does have a connection with rookie head coach JJ Redick as they were teammates with the New Orleans Pelicans.

The former lottery pick will look to find a role in the Lakers rotation unless he’s moved in a trade.
