Lakers at Jazz: Lakers Looking For Fourth Straight Win

The Los Angeles Lakers will play just their second game this week, with another matchup against the Utah Jazz. LA took down Utah on Tuesday night, 140-126.

That game marked the return of LeBron James, who contributed 11 points, three rebounds, and 12 assists.

The Lakers are off to a hot start this season at 11-4, while the Jazz are 5-9, but JJ Redick’s group can’t take them lightly. Here are three keys for the Lakeshow as they look to win their fourth straight game.

Lakers Need A Quick Start

In their matchup on Tuesday, the Lakers got off to a slow start, trailing 36-27 at the end of the first quarter.

While LA was able to recover and get the victory, it will be crucial to get a quick start. If the Lakers can dominate and build a lead early, they could rest the starters before their NBA Cup matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.

Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and LeBron James could carry the offense early while setting up their teammates, but they will need to play better as a unit on the defensive end of the floor.

Limiting Utah’s Threes

The Jazz put up 45 threes in Tuesday’s loss, but only hit 13 of them (28.9%). Utah will likely get up a lot of threes once again, and the Lakers will need to contest them.

If LA’s defense can force the Jazz to shoot inefficiently from three once again, they should be in the driver’s seat for a win.

Converting Free Throws

The Lakers are great at getting to the free-throw line, as Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves draw a ton of fouls. However, the Lakers converted only 29 of 40 free throws (72.5%).

To ensure a victory over the Jazz, LA will need to do a better job at converting at the free-throw line.

This game has the potential to be a blowout win for the Lakers, allowing them to rest their starters late. If they can get a quick start, limit Utah’s threes once again, and convert at the free-throw line, this should be an easy win.
