Lakers Face the Jazz Again in Luka’s Second Game
The Los Angeles Lakers have been rolling. They are the hottest team in the league, having won 12 of their last 14 games. They are on a 6-game winning streak and sit at the 4th seed in the West. The scariest part is that it hasn’t been due to Luka Doncic.
The Lakers have had the #1 defense over the last five games. Luka only had 14 points in his debut against the Jazz. They face Utah again tonight after dominating them on Monday.
LA is expected to handle them easily tonight again, as they are 8.5-point favorites. The team will be without Dorian Finney Smith, Gabe Vincent, and Cam Reddish, but Dalton Knecht is expected to return to the lineup.

Lakers Preview
The Lakers got some needed depth at the center position yesterday, signing veteran Alex Len.
It’s unclear yet if he will be a starter, but he is expected to get significant minutes in matchups against other quality bigs such as Nikola Jokic or Chet Holmgren. Len’s size (7 feet, 250 lbs) and physicality will help the team control the paint more effectively.
Although Luka’s much-anticipated debut didn’t produce the gaudiest numbers, his production will increase as his minutes increase.
He looked a little gassed at times as he hadn’t played in over a month and a half, but as he gets his feet back under him, he is expected to lead this team to great heights. The excitement surrounding this team has been higher than it has been in years due to Doncic.
LeBron James continues to defy any odds set against him. He is playing at an unreal level right now and is not slowing down.
Austin Reaves is also having the best year of his career and continuing to shine in his role more than effectively. The whole team has turned up the energy level, and it has shown on the court.
Matchup
The Jazz have struggled mightily this year, and it appears they don’t have any chance of making the playoffs. This bodes well for another Laker’s blowout Wednesday. After defeating them by 19 at home on Monday, they head to Salt Lake to take them on again.
Keys to Victory
- Let Luka Cook
JJ Redick has said Doncic will be on a slight minute restriction as he gains his endurance back and continues to recover from his calf strain. However, he is expected to receive around 30 minutes in closer games.
LeBron and Redick have already told him to be himself and do what he does best. The more he plays, the more comfortable he will be with his teammates’ movements and tendencies. We would all love to see Luka go off tonight in his second game as a Laker.
2. Keep up the Defensive Effort
The Lakers’ defense has been phenomenal, even without Anthony Davis. This winning streak has produced their best defense of the season, and the effort has been at an all-time high. They need to keep this up and not let the Jazz gain any sort of momentum.
3. Move the Ball
LA has been flying around and moving the ball consistently lately, and that should continue tonight. It’s been one of the main keys to this winning streak. Everyone in the lineup has been involved, and there hasn’t been too much iso offense. Keep the assists flying, and the Jazz stand no chance.
