Lakers Select Cameron Carr in 2026 NBA Draft

Tonight was the 2026 NBA Draft, where the nation’s best young hoopers realized their dreams of becoming NBA players. The Lakers had the 25th pick entering the draft and needed to hit to begin a successful offseason.

Just before their pick, news broke that Los Angeles had traded up one spot with the Knicks to select 24th. With that pick, the Lakers chose to draft Cameron Carr as the newest young player to don the Purple and Gold.

Cameron Carr

Carr played his college ball at Baylor last year after two seasons at Tennessee. At Baylor, he averaged 18.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 2.6 APG, and shot 37% from three this past season. He’ll be able to provide the Lakers with a nice scoring punch off the bench.

At 6’5 with a 38” vertical, Carr will not only provide a scoring punch, but a burst of athleticism as well, something that was drastically missing from the team last season. With his height and athleticism, Carr should have the ability to play all the way up to the three.

His measurables mixed with his athleticism should show themselves on the defensive end of the court as well. Last season, he averaged nearly a steal per game and a whopping 1.3 BPG, which is impressive from a guard.

This is an outstanding pick for the Lakers as Carr looks to be an ideal fit next to Luka Dončić moving forward. Hopefully, this great pick is a sign of things to come for Rob Pelinka and LA this summer.
