Lakers sign center Alex Len on the buyout market

The Los Angeles Lakers have made a move on the buyout market, signing center Alex Len. Len, the 7-footer, intended to sign with the Indiana Pacers before a bigger role opened up in LA after the Mark Williams trade was rescinded.

Len will provide depth as a big man for LA behind Jaxson Hayes and two-way bigs Christian Koloko and Trey Jemison III.

The addition of Len gives JJ Redick another option at center, as LA has run small-ball lineups of late. Len could earn the backup role if he plays well as a rebounder and defender.

The Lakers are waiving Christian Wood to open up the roster spot to sign Alex Len. Wood has missed the entire season as he’s been rehabbing from left knee surgery.
