The NBA Reaches a Decision on Luka Dončić Technical
In the Lakers’ last game vs the Miami Heat, it was once again a Luka Dončić masterpiece. It really was a quintessential Luka game as well. It came with all the proper Luka flair.
Dončić finished the game with an astounding 42 points on over 50% alongside 13 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. This was all on the second night of a back-to-back as well. Luka has started this season on a truly marvelous trajectory.
Part of it being truly a Luka game was his talking. Talking to both the opposing players and officials alike. Unfortunately, his talking got him a technical foul at the end of the second quarter. Today, the NBA reached a decision regarding that technical foul.
This Season Is Coming Up, All Luka Dončić
Dončić has always had an issue with his temper towards missed calls, and that temper has often resulted in technical fouls being dealt out to him.
In the NBA, a player or coach can receive up to 15 technical fouls over the course of the season. Once a player or coach picks up their 16th, they must serve a one-game suspension. With Dončić being the clear driving force of this team, it’s in the Lakers’ best interest that he stays as far away from 16 technicals as possible.
The NBA recently came to a decision regarding Luka’s technical foul he picked up against Miami, and it’s good news for Los Angeles. The league has decided to rescind Luka Dončić’s technical.
Luka Dončić’s (LAL) technical foul at 1:12 in the 2nd quarter on 11/2/26 (vs. MIA) has been rescinded upon league office review.

This is great news for the Lakers, as this means Luka’s leash has been loosened by 1/16th. Hopefully, this will lead to Luka taking a good look in the mirror and reevaluating how he speaks to officials. At the end of the day, you and I both know that’s not happening, but it is definitely a fun thought experiment.
