Walker Kessler Continues to Reach Wilt Chamberlain Heights
Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Toronto Raptors in the first night of a back-to-back. Unfortunately, it came down to the wire because the players tasked with finishing garbage time could not do so. Despite their efforts to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, Luka Dončić and Walker Kessler were once again great.
Tonight, they’ll be facing the Miami Heat, and if they want to look competitive in the second leg of the back-to-back, LA will need another big game from Kessler.
After Kessler’s first two unbelievable games, he’s certainly come back down to Earth. Some of the numbers he’s still putting up, however, are simply amazing. They’ve been so amazing that Kessler has once again entered the rarefied air of Wilt Chamberlain.
Kessler Can’t Stop Matching Wilt Chamberlain’s Marks
Last night against the Toronto Raptors, Kessler finished with a solid 16 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks. At first glance, it’s the rebounds and blocks that rightfully stand out, but when you take a closer look at his shooting, it becomes more impressive.
He didn’t just have 16 points; it was 16 points on 100% shooting from the field. That’s not just dominant; it’s historic. Only two Lakers have ever had 16 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks, all on 100% shooting. Walker Kessler and Wilt Chamberlain; that’s the list.
Per Lakers: Walker Kessler recorded 16 points (6-6 FG), 15 rebounds and three blocks, becoming just the second Laker in franchise history to reach those marks while shooting 100.0% from the field, joining Wilt Chamberlain (1968-69).
Kessler also became one of 10 players in NBA history to accomplish the feat.

Not only are there just two Lakers who have accomplished this feat, but only 10 players in all of NBA history have done this. Kessler just keeps proving the Lakers organization right for taking a risk and going all in on him.
So far this season, Kessler is averaging 14 PPG, 10 RPG, and 3 BPG on 75% from the field. These are outstanding marks for a team that’s been desperate for any semblance of high-level center play.
If the Lakers hope to make serious noise in the postseason this year, they’ll certainly need Kessler to continue this level of play. The good news for Lakers fans? He’s showing no signs of slowing down.
