LeBron James re-signs on a two-year $104 million max contract with the Lakers
LeBron James chose to opt out of his $51.4 million player option with the Lakers and will sign a two-year, $104 million contract, which includes a player option and a no-trade clause, per Shams Charania.
James was willing to take a pay cut for an impact player, but after missing out on Klay Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas, James has taken the max.

With James staying in Los Angeles, he is likely playing his last couple of seasons with the Lakers as they prepare for another run for Banner 18.
James will also be under a brand new head coach, JJ Redick.
The two are close friends and have co-hosted a podcast called Mind The Game, which Redick has made very clear is coming to an end.
James also has the opportunity to play alongside his son Bronny James, who the Lakers drafted with their 55th pick in the second round. This will be the first time a father and son share the court on the same NBA team.
James is entering his 22nd year in the NBA and averaged 26/7/8 in 71 appearances last season. The Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets in five games.
